Local Photographer Required for Stevenage Football Club Promotional Flyer
Astute Electronics are key sponsors of Boro’. Astute’s director of marketing, Damian Semple required a local photographer at short notice for a shoot to be undertaken within budget on location at the football club after normal school hours.
The brief was to create an image of the family with a little attitude, to be used potentially as a cut-out photo placed on a promotional hand-out card at the start of the match, encouraging families to take part in a half time challenge with major holiday prizes on offer. As the budget was fairly tight, it made sense to seek a photographer local to the club thus keeping down the costs of travel time and expenses. The brief was issued just 24 hours before with a deadline of the following day for the final image.
Commercial photographer Simon Lane of Indigoplum based just around the corner from Stevenage Football Club in Knebworth, was able to fulfill the shoot within the very tight deadline and at a cost that fitted the budget. Under the art direction of Damian Semple, a series of shots were taken pitch side to see if it was possible to produce the correct looking image with natural daylight and background of the stadium with a possible option to cut out the photo. The shoot then moved indoors into one of the changing rooms. Setting up a series of high power location lights, it was possible to re-create a studio at the location without the need to bring the family back for a second shoot in a studio environment. The area chosen in the changing room and background had to be carefully considered so as to make it as easy as possible for the creative team to cut out the final photo.
The resulting promotional advertisement was delivered on time, on budget and was a great success.
